But what if that weren't the case. What if a computer was like an armoire; something could hold on to, cherish, and that would gain value with age. This is what Suissa Computers is hoping for. Their line of beautiful, hand-made and sustainable computer cases are designed to be infinitely upgraded. Now, this doesn't mean that the components of the computer won't become obsolete. But, as long as some things remain standard, a Suissa computer case should last a lifetime.
I have a hard time imagining that they will achieve heirloom status, the things we now call computers will probably undergo some radical shifts in the way they exist before I have grandchildren. But anything that avoids obsolescence is top notch ecogeek fare. And with a package like Suissa is offering, you won't have to think about upgrading for a pretty long time anyhow.

I used to have a really big TV with a wooden console surrounding it. It was meant to be heirloom quality. Within 6 years it looked extremely dated. I chopped it into pieces. It resides in the landfill now. Suissa just reminds me that bad ideas return every 20 years.
