The Eagle Cam is a cooperative effort with Northeast Utilities, MassWildlife, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). NU provided a photovoltaic array to power the camera and transmit the signal from the island to the receiver. MassWildlife maintains the system and physically protects the area. USFWS serves as a contact to keep the system and the partnership between NU and MassWildlife.
As of August 2006, the combined efforts of these three organizations have been responsible for adding 25 young eagles to the northeastern eagle population.
Currently the eagle cam is down for the fall, due routine maintenance, but you can still view photographs from past seasons. The Eagle Cam will be up and running again around December, which is when the eagles begin their courting process. Do not forget to check out the Eagle Cam in December.
