2009 Saw Less Media Coverage of Environment

Yes, you read that headline correctly.  Last year saw less media coverage of best price generic viagra online prescription climate change and the environment than the two previous years.

Really?  Even with continued scientific evidence of climate change being published, the lead-up to where can i purchase cialis an international conference on the subject and the feeling that more people than ever have an interest in learning about climate change and protecting the environment, the topic only accounted for 1.5 percent of media stories, down from the already dismal 1.7 percent in 2008 and 2007.

The study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism, which tracked weekly media coverage from 55 outlets for the past year, ended on December 6, so COP15 coverage was left out of the totals.  But two weeks of intense coverage can't make up for an entire year of little coverage.

As someone who makes up their day reading and writing stories on the topic, and for all of you EcoGeeks out there who follow the topic closely, it's easy to get caught up in our own little world and not realize that the information isn't making it to everyone.  If anything, this study makes me, and hopefully all of you, more determined to write, talk, even dance (if it will help) about the high quality levitra subject as much as possible in 2010.

Ugh. How sad is this? smilies/sad.gif Somehow we have to figure out better ways to reach outside our little echo chamber.

excuse me but could it be that several newspaper agencies closed their doors last year because people just weren't buying them enough any more? I think I heard that 155 papers stopped publications last year. granted some of these continued with online publications but simply put sometimes less is less. If al the recommended site professional levitra papers studied from year to viagra pills canadian year are accounted for in the same media- ok but i'm wondering if they are. Thanks for listening.

CO2-based AGW is a fraud
written by Fred, January 05, 2010
It is a SCAM. CO2 is not causing global warming. Mankind is not causing global warming. Mankind will not cause the next ice age either.

Of the 186 billion tons of CO2 that enter earth's atmosphere each year from all sources, only 6 billion tons are from human activity. Approximately 90 billion tons come from biologic activity in earth's oceans and another 90 billion tons from such sources as volcanoes and decaying land plants.

At 380 parts per million CO2 is a tiny, tiny, tiny constituent of earth's atmosphere-- less than 4/100ths of 1% of all gases present. Compared to former geologic times, earth's current atmosphere is CO2- impoverished.
CO2 is not a pollutant. More CO2 makes all the plants happy and healthier.

Water vapor in the atmosphere has an orders-of-magnitude greater effect on warming and how much does viagra cost cooling. Think about it.

The computer models that have been used to scare you are WRONG.

Yes, let's all clean up after ourselves. Yes, let's all learn how not to make a big mess to begin with. Yes, let's all tread lightly on the planet and keep it healthy and beautiful. Yes, let's all use only what we need: waste not, want not. I am with you on all of that 100%.

But for Gaia's sake, get off the CO2 kick! It's a waste of time and energy that could be used to actually do something good for ourselves and the planet.

Climate change is where to get levitra happening, always has been, always will be,and there's not a thing you or I can do about it, except adapt or die.
There IS a pattern to climate change - 1
written by Fred, January 05, 2010
There is most certainly a pattern to climate change.

For at least 114 years, climate scientists have been claiming that the climate was going to kill us, but they have kept switching whether it was a coming ice age, or global warming.

* 1981 - Global Warming of an almost unprecedented magnitude New York Times.

* 1988 - I would like to draw three main conclusions. Number one, the earth is warmer in 1988 than at any time in the history of instrumental measurements. Number two, the global warming is now large enough that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause and effect relationship to the greenhouse effect. And number three, our computer climate simulations indicate that thegreenhouse effect is already large enough to begin to effect the probability of extreme events such as summer heat waves. Jim Hansen, June 1988 testimony before Congress, see His later quote and His superiors objection for context

* 1989 - On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the we choice levitra in australia for sale truth, the whole truth, and nothing but which means that we must include all doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people wed like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to tramadol 1200mg reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climate change. To do that we need to get some broad based support, to capture the publics imagination. That, of course, means getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This double ethical bind we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both. Stephen Schneider, lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Discover magazine, October 1989

* 2001 - Scientists no longer doubt that global warming is happening, and almost nobody questions the fact that humans are at least partly responsible. Time Magazine, Monday, Apr. 09, 2001

* 2003 - Emphasis on extreme scenarios may have been appropriate at one time, when the public and decision-makers were relatively unaware of the global warming issue, and energy sources such as synfuels, shale oil and tar sands were receiving strong consideration Jim Hansen, NASA Global Warming activist, Can we defuse The Global Warming Time Bomb?, 2003

* 2006 - I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to cialis online what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis. Al Gore, Grist magazine, May 2006

Well since Global Warming is a scam, that's good. But the Bilderbergers will find a way to make it work for them and cialis blood thinner then we will become slaves. I urge ecogeek to change into a website that debunks the lie of global warming, not supports it.

Before we get too distraught, I'm eager to suggest that there can be several reasons for a decline in coverage as well as informed readers/listeners. The first that leaps to my mind (what's left of it), is that the consumers may be getting their information from other sources.
The bigger political picture with which we're faced regarding Congressional support and proponents of Cap and Trade among the many environmental bills and economic, dire-straights, legislation may be, temporarily, pulling consumers away from the issues to similarly important but not quite so urgent ones.
The media has had an interesting year just passed, also, in which environmental awareness and concerns of the first quarter gave way to more basic, personal, and imminent and alarming needs -- food, shelter, and other issues.
Those of us who are most likely to be immersed in the environmental, ecologic, and sustainability issues tend to cialis pharmacy in india be from more middle-class circumstances, narrowing our focus to our kids' immediate needs, the emerged and healthcare disappointments. Meanwhile, the conservatives (as opposed to conservationists!) are listening to the Bushit supporter and need viagra have quit supporting the media's coverage: No coverage, no purchases; no purchases no sponsor; no sponser, no coverage. A downward spiral into rising water levels.
