I drive 45 highway miles to work (each way) every day and all I'm asking for is a fuel efficient car that's comfortable and has a nice sound system. seriously. why are car manufacturers so damn slow to get with the program? we are going to have $4 oil again within the next 2 years. - boudoir Photography

Ugly Hybrid car.

That car aesthetically is awful! I understand the whole making a car more wind-resistant but I think that a big appeal to driving cars is the way they look. Personally, the new hybrid cars are very unattractive and I probably won't buy one until they start looking better.

I'm glad that hybrid systems / cars are being advanced and the prices are lowering, I'm just waiting on one that is visually appealing. haha - Used Bucket Trucks for Sale

I wish car co.s would make a limited run just for us

omg! it does totally look like the mario bullet!! I would buy it for that reason alone. seriously though, between a prius gettin 40 mpg (and production energy used in making the engine "cell" supposedly being worse for the environment than driving a ford f-350 around every day) and the smart car, which is cute but not at all powerful or terribly fuel efficient...when are we going to get some options?!?

I drive 45 highway miles to work (each way) every day and all I'm asking for is a fuel efficient car that's comfortable and has a nice sound system. seriously. why are car manufacturers so damn slow to get with the program? we are going to have $4 oil again within the next 2 years. sigh. - danielle s

Diesels and economics

Imagine that a Car company only concerned with sales! No crap people. If they werent then there wouldnt be companies in business even to make cars. Eco logic at its best.

Diesels are great for MPG but have many disadvatages to gasoline. Trucks use Diesels because diesel engines tend to be larger, they also produce high torque, just what trucks need. Cars went gasoline because consumers wanted quick response in smaller cars. Diesels also are sluggish in cold starts.

Another point, if the government has to subsidize the car for you to buy it then it isnt worth buying. If they are so great then demand will push it into success in the market. If the only way to get people to look at buying it is through government help then it is a failure. When people want green death traps then they will demand it. When they demand it the manufacturers will provide it. Simple economics. - Scot49

VW Purchase

I owned New Beetle and, while it was super cute and fun to drive (had a 2.0 turbo engine in it), it constantly had problems. Not to mention, it wasn't very practical after I had my first daughter. So long beetle. We had our fun, but now we must part ways. - Used Bucket Trucks

I have a private buyer who works with trade in China, and they are planning to buy 6 of these cars and have them shipped here. The car will cost $600, plus about $1500 for shipping direct from China. I am one of the 6 purchasers of this new automobile and look forward to the day when it arrives. In spite of negative comments about this car, the homework has been done by VW, and production goes into effect in 2010. Can't wait!! - T Wood

Well I would by one for me and my small lap dogs, girl friend, grocery shopping or for going for a drive out in the country. Its a great idea, uses less parking space, it's not a motorcycle because it has 4 wheels. I do have a motorcycle and I do not ride in the rain or in the winter. You can certainly drive this year around. With all the morons who have nothing better to say or have to complain about something or everything is because they are cronic complainers and have nothing better to say. Can't wait for these people with there big gas guzzlers SUV's can only buy a limited amount of fuel restiction in the month for there vehicles and when they run outof there fuel restriction then have to walk, while I can drive one of these little cars and drive, drive ,hi-ho and drive on hi-ho.....drive on - Peter

If only single-seater - ideal for going to/from work (=95% of my mileage) - low speeds, under 60 mph, stop/start traffic. Governments could provide incentives for existing larger-car owners to get one of these, too (like a bicycle), then make it financially and culturally acceptable to actually drive it. Keep the big car for plywood sheets, towing and dating. - Frank Raymond

To get past all the Eviro-Nazies and stupid USDOT/emissions garbage, wouldn't be great if VW spun off a subsidiarity that would let us get the vehicle in KIT form? Plus, I'd love to be able to get a smaller Diesel for my other vehicles. Yank that worthless 4.0 out of my Ford Ranger and put a Turbo Diesel in there. That would be fantastic. - guest
