Hey, it's blog action day, and this year's theme is the environment. So...yeah, today at EcoGeek we're going to blog about the environment!

Hmmm...ok, well, that is what we do every day. So, instead, let me just welcome all the other bloggers into the enviro-sphere for a day. Also, this seems to be driving a bit of traffic to EcoGeek, from people posting about where to go for good eco info. Welcome to all of those folks, I hope you find that you've been given good advice.

It's frikkin fantastic that the entire blogosphere can get behind the planet for a day. But here at EcoGeek...every day is blog action day.

'Blogacts'

Blogging is what I do also. Still Blog Action Day felt special, and inspired me to take blogging one step further. Maybe it is the bad news I heard also, about our doom coming even nearer? In any case, I created a new word, in honor of Blog Action Day. 'blogact', for blogging activism. A blogact is the act of writing in a blog, and extending the writing with some kind of relevant action in the community.

This weekend I wrote about 'The Digital Dump, the movie from the Basel Action Network about illegal dumping of unusable electronics in Africa. The next day, I followed up with a letter to the Computer History Museum, in Silicon Valley, asking them to consider including 'The Digital Dump' in their rendition of Silicon Valley Computer History. That is one step, and I will be following up.

In the next few weeks I will be opening up my blog to other bloggers interested in sharing some of their blogact stories. Please drop by my blog with a comment to let me know that you are interested. I will of course link back to your site, and also EcoGeek.

Blog Action Day
written by Whimspiration , October 16, 2007
I too live as green as possible for this stage in my life, but I must say that any event such as Blog Action Day, that encourages us to write more about what we do to help the cause, how, and why is a great thing.

Sometimes just living green and talking about it from time to time isn't enough, and events like BAD are just the thing to get us to sharpen the focus, not only of our own thoughts and blogs, but also of those who may read our post for that day.

Thanks for joining in!

Kudos to you for participating in blog action day.

I did not participate. However, I wrote a belated post of my own about an environmental issue that might strike a cord with some of your readers.

Brazilian Hardwood Floors, Slave Labor, and the Destruction of the Rain Forest.

You can find it at:
http://www.realestatetwincities.net/brazilian-hardwood-floors-can-you-say-slave-labor/

Anything that you can do to help promote awareness of this issue will be greatly appreciated. Normally, I don't ask for this kind of help, but the issue is that important to me.

Thank you!
