Pop-Out Shopping Bag

I do my best to bring a canvas bag along whenever I'm planning on buying something. It just make sense, it saves everybody time and energy and frankly they're easier to carry than those little plastic ones.

But sometimes I don't know when I'm going to buy something, or I forget the bag. Which is where the Flip and Tumble bag comes in. The idea is that it's so small and lightweight you can take it anywhere with you. It's made of low-density, high strength nylon and is about the size of a tennis ball. Pop it open, and it's a good sized grocery bag!

This is great for folks with purses (not me) or even big pockets (me) as you can carry it around all the time, without having to remember to bring your big bulky bag if you might be buying something.

Then, to close it up, you basically just fold it up the way you ball up your socks when you're putting them away...and you've got your little tennis ball again!

They're on sale now for 15 bucks, though they won't ship until November 1st. I can't think of a better stocking stuffer.

That is cool, compact and something to play with when you are really bored. I have some handmade bags, but I forget them or make unplanned stops more often than I'd like to admit. I'm thinking I'd just do the same with something like this.

This is an excellent idea so eco friendly. This bag is small and convenient, I would keep couple of them in a tennis ball container in the car and will be reday to shop with them.

This is a great idea but it's already been done, and for less money! We love our Chico bags - http://www.chicobag.com/ - they roll up to tennis ball size, but also have a hook so you can hang it on a backpack, belt loop etc. - I hook it on my belt loop when we walk to our local Farmers Market so I don't have to use the plastic bags they offer. AND, they are only $5 each vs. $15. They are extremely sturdy - the baggers at the store are always surprised at what they can hold (20 lb capacity). I keep them in my purse and use them all the time.

I saw these bags at a farmer's market a while back when they were working on developing the product. The great thing about these bags is that they are so easy to get back into the compact form. I use my flip & tumble bag (not a big fan of the name) much more than any of my other reusable shopping bags. This is a great product and I can't wait to buy more. I wish they had more colors though.

I've been using a very similar product for ages -- the Acme Workhorse http://www.reusablebags.com/st...0-p-1.html. That one looks bigger, though. I like the Acme bags because they fit so nicely on the bag racks at supermarkets. I have several in my purse so I'm always ready to go!

I really like the flip & tumble for in my purse - but I am a fan of Baggu Bags for grocery shopping. You can buy one for $8, three for $22, or six for $38 - and they come in fantastic colors. So you actually have enough for all of your groceries. Check em out www.baggubag.com!

This does mean you having to buy that bag in the first place while every home has at least a gazillion plastic bags in the house. I mean, those plastic bags can also be folded up in something extremely small and are extremely lightweight. So this is not necessarily a huge benefit. Those tennisball-bags need to be produced as well. smilies/tongue.gif
