But now Sony is launching a new, cheaper, 40 gig PS3 that uses a smaller, less power-hungry chip. This brings the PS3 out of the "most wasteful system" category, and instead puts it on par with the 360. But if you're not overly concerned with the pretty pictures...the Wii is still the champion here. Via Engadget

I have a Kill-A-Watt, and though the PS3 does indeed use more energy than the XBox 360, I have never measured anything as impressive as "two times as much power" than the XBox 360. I tested it both on "idle" as well as playing "Resistance: Fall Of Men", while I tested the Xbox 360 on "idle" as well as playing "Battlefield 2". I would love to see how they got that data.

Here is a great rundown on each of the three major systems.
http://www.hardcoreware.net/re...356-1.htm Shows that the Wii is amazingly efficient. Also shows that the PS3 uses more power than the 360, however not even close to 2x as much (really only ~10 watts during game play). Factor in the fact the PS3 has 2x the processing power, it makes you realize that the PS3 is relatively more efficient that the 360.
