Popular Mechanics Goes Hands-On with the Aptera  E-mail

We've been talking about the Aptera for a long time here at EcoGeek. But we have not yet gotten inside one (much to our chagrin.) But the folks at Popular Mechanics did get a crack at the Aptera...and luckily they had a video camera witht hem!

The video does a pretty good job of showcasing some of the more unique aspects of the...vehicle (it's not legally a car...having only three wheels.) However, the person doing the talking isn't an informed expert...he's Aptera's CEP, so it's not surprising that everything sounds so rosey.

Worried about saftey? DON'T! Worried about comfort? They've got that covered too! And girls love it!

Whatever, the girls that I would like would like it, so that's all that really matters. It's definitely safer, and more comfortable than a motorcycle. And, at up to 300 mpg for the hybrid version, it's more efficient than any bike on the road too.

Check out the video at Popular Mechanics

Techies gotta love this thing. I'd say price point at 30 to 40K. I'd buy a Li-ion battery one, but I'se busted.

I love the way it looks, but I really wonder about the safety. Would I take my toddler for a ride in it? Probably not and she goes everywhere with me.

I love the idea though.

Ooh, I want one of these. Of course, after I get it I have to put retractable wings on it, and a propeller. It already looks enough like an airplane smilies/wink.gif.
Aptera specifications

Are the size specifications of the Aptera available? It looks too wide to fit into a one-car garage.
