Alternative Energies on Charlie Rose  E-mail

I sure do love Charlie Rose, I can't help but think that he's a closet EcoGeek as so many of his programs end up featured here. This episode, though, has to be one of my favorites. We get to talk about my two favorite subjects, clean technology and the future of the internet.

Do these things have anything to do with eachother?  Oh yes, yes they do. But no one points it out here, and I don't have the time to discuss it today. But keep an open mind. How does the internet help or hurt our environment. Certainly, technologies can mitigate our impact on the environment, bu what about the internet.

It's a question that needs to be answered. What good is all of these wonderful new sources of information, really, if they serve only to disconnect us from the the world we are physically dependent on?

The internet is an energy efficiency mac

In my mind, the internet is a big energy saver... mainly by reducing commuting. Online shopping, Netflix, and telecommuting are all energy eficient alternatives to getting into a car (even a hybrid.) sure, computers and servers etc.
