TreeHugger has just created a very cool flash application that tracks the appearance of environmental phrases in the media. As the overall number of environmental phrases increases, so does the greendex ummm...number. Each phrase has it's own number as well, which rise and fall as days go on. Today doesn't seem to be a very good day for the TH Greendustrial Average, down 7.2%. But we're confident that the overall performance of the market will be strong.

It looks that way until you realize that the whole market looks that way over the last week.

I love this! What a way to keep track of trends in general. If it could be broadened to show how many times a certain word was used in a week or month, we'd know if the whole environmental movement was still heating up or starting to lose momentum.
Great start

What a great idea - but it would be much improved by adding more terms, such as energy efficiency, renewables, etc.
