As every third-grader knows, once you've crossed the threshold between proper, adult content and scatological humor, there's little turning back. There's a part of me that thinks recycled paper made from elephant dung is great because it saves trees and creates a useful product from a naturally renewable and sustainable source. But my inner child likes this simply because it's, well, poop. This is the same part of me that thinks that it would be awesome to live in a house made of cow poop. The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company extracts fibrous material from dried elephant dung, rinses and boils them (you think you had it tough working in the mail room? Try that job!) and then combines them with pineapple and banana fibers to create sanitary products that, in the words of its makers, "do not smell at all...not like poo anyways! Our products smell like normal stationery type products." Incredibly, one piece of dung can yield up to 10 journal-sized notebooks, including the covers. Part of the proceeds of every sale go to elephant conservation and welfare projects worldwide. So until Fujitsu's electronic paper comes out, here's a green way to pass notes in class, and quite possibly gross out Suzy Carter. via BoingBoing

Sanitary as in "completely germ-free" not "for use in sanitary applications.

I'm really hoping you meant "stationery", you can take being eco-friendly too far.
