| Sexy, Simple, and Pricey Electric Motorbike |

Right here we have a sweet looking motorcycle. The design is an awesome mix of old and new. I wouldn't be surprised to see a henchman in Indiana Jones riding one of these, but it's modern enough to be instantly appealing.
Of course, with a top speed of 50 mph, Indy wouldn't have too much trouble getting away. Also, the range, 45 miles, leaves a bit to be desired. But, after all, it's hard to fit a lot of batteries in a motorcycle, especially one that only weighs 245 lbs.
Carbon fiber components keep the weight down, but the price up. Though this would be an awesome commuter vehicle, it's going to set you back more than some more comfortable options. $15k for the current model, and $10,000 once they start mass production. But until they get that into the four figure range, I don't see this one taking off. Via AutoBlogGreen

Oh Yeah, He's a History Professor

I guess Indiana Jones was a history professor, wasn't he?! That explains why he'd write the bike, as opposed to riding it.
Seriously, this is a cool bike.

How about a 125 cc motorcycle, fully faired, that comes with helmet, jacket, gloves and boots - additional costs to riding - for $4000?
Honda's pushing their smallest bike to new riders, but I think it will appeal to folks who may be looking at scooters: it gets 90 miles to the gallon. Plus, it's a real bike
that thing...

Make it a plug-in series hybrid

A tiny engine (less than 50cc) should be enough for recharging the batteries and getting nearly unlimited range while keeping most of the mileage for daily commutes still be fully electric.
The price is tricky, though. It would be even more expensive than this.
Less pricey motor scooter

x-tremescooters.com has a 2000 watt scooter that comes in at ~$2K. No way should the above Jones bike be so costly. Green is in, but you are paying alot of green for it...
electric bike conversion kit
written by Ron Mowen , August 20, 2007
I converted my bicycle to electric for under 400 dollars. Range depends on how you use it. Pedal alone or with the motor, or motor alone. I still get exercise and use it when i get tired or need to go up hills. The charger is small so you can take it along. I've found many places to top off the batteries.
