 Our friends at AutoBlogGreen were lucky enough to catch the first glimpse of the Ford Hydrongen Fusion 999. This is basically a Ford Fusion body that has been completely sealed at the front end (that's just a picture of a grill, not an actual grill) and given a few other aerodynamic tweaks. The car will be given a fuel cell engine and Ford will attempt to pass the 200 mph mark with next month at the Bonneville Salt Flats, making it the fastest fuel cell car in the world. Just for money?

This is simply a research vehicle where Ford is pushing the current fuel cell technology to the limits. It has to be done in all commercial technology. I'd be willing to hedge a huge bet on Ford applying what they learn with this vehicle to a car that you or I might buy in a decade or so. After all, while their current profits might say otherwise, Ford is about making money. They're not stupid and they're not going to pour money into some dreamland project that won't some way improve the products such as Ford catalytic converter - http://www.catalyticonverters....rter.html, that make them money.
I'm not convinced...

...that hydrogen is going to be practical enough for mass acceptance (people have to buy before a company'll sell 'em!), but I certainly applaud the research.
