Top Five Sustainable Sports Cars  E-mail

Inhabitat has put together an awesome list of the "Top 5 Sexiest Sustainable Sports Cars." For those folks who continually gripe about the, ermmm, stylelessness of some green cars, this is a good list to keep you interested. The Saab Aero-X, the Venturi Fetish, the Citroen C-Metisse, the Toyota FT-HS, and the Tesla Roadster all find a well deserved place on the list.

It's hard to choose a favorite for myself. For style, I'll probably have to go with the Saab. But its hard to beat the Venturi Fetish...since it's the only car on the list that you can actually, currently, purchase.

I love concept cars, and I agree the Saab is a great looking car. I recently put together a list of cars that are already a reality (or very close to it.)

Aesthetics are subservient to effectiven
written by maximizeutility , August 24, 2007
The only reason someone would say that an SUV 'looks good' is because they've been conditioned to like it. The aesthetics of a car are subservient to what makes the car effective. To put this in perspective, think of a fork. The current design of forks has been perfected umpteen times through centuries, and the aesthetic is that of effectiveness. You could make a fork 'prettier' but it wouldn't make the fork better for eating. Whether they find the fork 'pretty' or not is irrelevant, because its current aesthetic is the best - that is, most effective.

P.S. I'd bet that if you posted a 'digg it' option, the majority of the responses would be 'they're all ugly' or in favor of the car with the bluntest front end. smilies/smiley.gif

I think it is great manufacturers are taking a serious look at building sexy, sustainable transportation. In fact, I'm so excited about this article I linked to this entry from my blog as well. http://blog.razoo.com/articles...he-planet#
