$100 Laptop for You and cialis by mail Me Too!

I am downright pleased that so many people are going to have access to the information revolution through the one laptop per child project. But how come I can't have one?

The answer may soon be...I can. The OLPC laptop is sws-bl.com an excellent little device that allows internet browsing and document reading at power levels so far unseen in modern laptops. No, it's not the most powerful laptop in the world, but the pricetag, and the low wattage (4 watts browsing the how can i get prescribed tramadol internet, 1 watt reading a document) make the OLPC a gadget that would very likely sell quite well in the industrialized world. Especially if you can charge it by pulling a string.

While the OLPC people are still focusing on making the laptops available to less developed countries, there has been some discussion about selling the laptop in developed countries. However, anyone buying an OLPC in America would have to buy a minimum of two. One for themselves, and one for a child in the third world. Sounds like a fantastic idea to me.

Nice. What I had heard, back in the very early days of the OLPC, was that it would be $100 for those that really need it, and $300 for me. This is essentially the same thing, but gives me a more real feeling that I'm contributing to cheap viagra canada something.

The "why", the "trust" and the "who not"
written by Rob, June 22, 2007
It's a great idea! NOT!
Why should I buy a 100$ laptop and pay 200$ for it, and on top of that pay the viagra uk purchase taxes that MY country uses to produce and distribute the 100$ laptops for? Consider how many poor people there are in the US alone? How many children AND adults in the US could benefit and develop the US? Why do you think that only third world countries need help when we can't even help ourselves? And also, consider the probability of the forced 100$ donation ending up in a greedy persons pocket instead. There is very little transparency in beneficial services today, what makes you think it is any different with a colourfull 100$ laptop? I would rather pay the 200$ for the laptop and not believe I'm helping some poor, hopeless individual in a third world country.

OS is to simple
written by J.S., June 25, 2007
I burned a live CD of their OS and ran it on my laptop.

http://olpc.download.redhat.com/olpc/streams/development/LATEST/devel_jffs2/

It is a very simple OS people. Can't do much with it.

It has tetris though. But there is nothing stopping the development of more complex hardware/software that is just as efficient. Kudos to OLPC.

I cannot read the items posted because of the overlapping ads. I know you need to run ads to afford to www.deboerderijhuizen.nl host this place, but, not going to keep folks here if they cannot read your blog.
I hope you can fix this soon ? And yes, I am using Firefox as well.
MANY folks have switched to Firefox , so you might want to make it compatible to both IE and FF. Good luck.

shutting down yahoo
written by nick, June 29, 2007
I've tried to get a response from Yahoo on the same issue of generic viagra usa overlapping ads a few times now - but Nada! I'm shutting down my email with these guys as soon as all my contacts know, it's senselessly intrusive and very un-friendly. And yes, I use Firefox too, no sane person would touch IE.
leave the sinking ship,

9/11 = inside job
written by Joep, June 29, 2007
The evidence is plentiful & solid that 9/11 was perpetrated by criminal elements in the US government with the help of Bush and Cheney:

Overlapping hides part of the article
written by brentbent, August 12, 2007
I've noticed another poster pointing this out, but even once I've reduced my fonts from size 20 to 10 a portion of the article and only here generic viagra overnight the posts are hidden by the ads. I would think an eco focused site would also keep in mind that not everybody in the world has perfect eyesight and would be increasing their fonts to make it easier for them to http://roguelephant.com/viagra-dose read like I do. I am using the viagra online pharmacy generic latest version of Firefox and running Win XP SP2, ift hat helps. If your goal is onlinr tramadol to keep readers you need to fix this as I am sure plenty of people show up for the first time and never return due to this hindrance.

It's ridiculous to compare America's poo
written by brentbent, August 12, 2007
Granted, some Americans live in situations similar to 3rd world poor, but most do not. I make around 7k a year on disability and I have my own apartment, medical care, never go hungry, never get cold in the winter, and have nice, albeit from the Goodwill, clothes. Although I am considered woefully poor by American standards, by global standards I am still in the top 1/5th of cialis 30 mg income. $200 for me is about 8 days of my monthly income while n the 3rd world $100 is equivalent to 100 to 50 days of income. Just because a person is poor by America's bloated standards doesn't mean they are suffering like the global poor.

How to read with Firefox
written by brentbent, August 12, 2007
click edit
click select all
open notepad
click copy

this will copy the text, but not the pictures, to notepad leaving the article and the comments easy to read. Annoying, but if the article is something you want to read there you have it.
