Great site. Wow yeah if the ultimate in traditional enterprises, the Vatican, can do it, then anyone can. I was stunned by how quickly schools are moving to add solar, with 6 of 8 school district referenda in NJ alone this week approving solar panels. And then there's a bill in the NJ legislature that would REQUIRE all new-build schools to have solar power in the design. Maybe your readers also want a link to this post?

I am puzzled by the choice of photo voltaic because there is enough filth and excrement produced by the vatican to power the worlds largest fecal reactor.

But seriously, for a such religious body to endorse science (first climate change, then photovoltaics) is hypocricy in the first order. I guessing they've essentially been backed into a corner.

If the U.S. had chosen to be a moral people, and leaving Iraqi oil alone, and following Al Gore, decided to develop the South Western deserts, with the technology of the times - solar/thermal-molten sodium - electricity installations, for the same amount of money as that war cost, ($650 Billion), today, we would be tapping into the largest, renewable, sustainable, energy source the world has ever known. It would have paid every energy bill in the U.S.A. for maintenance fees only - FOREVER! It would be equivalent to an oil field that can NEVER run dry! Low cost electric power, and storeable hydrogen gasoline replacement from the electricity, for all!
After the millions of murders, and $650 billions of dollars, borrowed from our children’s futures and pissed away, with thousands of our own and others maimed and disfigured for life, millions of families utterly destroyed, ours and theirs, we are no closer to Iraqi oil production than the Iraqis are!

Yes, it does seem a little lax that offensive posts such as yours aren't moderated appropriately.

I find it strange that you would compare my post to the final sentence of yours. All I was saying is that for a religious body such as the Vatican (who are muddle-headed about almost every scientific endeavor) to begin endorsing the fruit of the labor of those who are often considered an affront to religion is total hypocricy. That is all.

As for Brian's comment, I personally found it offensive to not only myself but the entire human race. This blog is about technology and the environment. His comment had nothing to say about either. Regardless, it was clearly infantile and I sincerily hope he is about 5 years old since that is where that kind of naive romanticism should stay.
